THE BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

by RENATO U. PARAGAS, M.D., The WATERDOK

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” - 1 Corinthians 6:19 NKJV

The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. A temple is a place dedicated to religious worship or ceremony. It is a sacred building. Thus, we must adopt a lifestyle that will maintain a clean, sacred, and holy body. In the event that we fail to obey the laws regarding our health, we acquire sickness and disease. Leviticus 26: 14-16 reads: “The Lord said, ‘If you will not obey my commands, you will be punished. If you refuse to obey my laws and commands and break the covenant I have made with you, I will punish you. I will bring disaster on you—incurable diseases and fevers that will make you blind and cause your life to waste away.’” (GNT)

As a Medical Professional, I have encountered numerous individuals who seek advice to help them restore their lost health. My solution to their ailments is just a simple concept known as “Tubig at mga Mineral: Sagot sa Kalusugan!” (Water and Minerals: Solution to Good Health!). The concept delves into the use of two of the most ignored and neglected essential nutrients, namely: water and minerals.

Today, most individuals prefer tongue-pleasing fluids that not only conform to the physiologic needs of the body but are also laden with various chemicals that harm the cells when taken for a prolonged period of time. The adult human body is comprised of at least 70 percent water and this essential nutrient plays a very critical role in health and well-being. When its basic functions in the body do not occur, bodily dysfunctions and diseases result. Dr. Fereydoon Batmanghelidj, author of the book “Your Body’s Many Cries For Water” boldly declared that water is the only prescribed beverage for the human body and nothing substitutes for water. Substituting other fluids for water is basically the beginning of most diseases. Water is the liquid of life and without it, nothing exists. I always compare the human body to that of the vehicle engine. If it operates on gasoline, fill the fuel tank only with gasoline. If it operates on diesel fuel, fill the tank only with diesel. No proportion of gasoline and diesel, when mixed together, will provide an efficient fuel to the engine. They must always be in their purest form.

Many adults love caffeinated beverages such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, energy drinks, and chocolates. Coffee is the most famous among them. I cannot blame the consumers because many marketers of coffee promote it as a healthy beverage. If it is so, why do 98 percent of my patients belong to the coffee-loving group? Dr. Batmanghelidj cited that caffeine is a diuretic and it promotes the kidneys to eliminate more water than normal. When consumed for a prolonged duration, it gradually dries up the body resulting in a state of unintentional chronic dehydration. Once the body is in this state, 66 percent of water within the cells is lost, 28 percent of water outside the cell is lost and eight percent of water in the blood is lost. This dehydrated state causes various complications that are basically the prevalent medical conditions we observe today such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, chronic kidney disease, asthma, cancer, and many more.

Water has three basic qualities: colorless, odorless, and tasteless. It appears clear, spotless, and sacred just like what a holy thing should be. Water is the vehicle used to cleanse anything that is filthy. In baptism, water is the symbol of divine life as well as a sign of purity and cleansing from sin. The Holy Bible mentions water 722 times indicating its vital importance to life-physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

To restore lost health, it is very vital to utilize water. Water is necessary to transport the vital nutrients to keep the cells healthy, distribute oxygen adequately, and make the necessary repairs to the damaged cells. It is also important for the elimination of acidic metabolic wastes and toxins from the body, an effective cleansing process. If these wastes are not eliminated properly, they will become toxic to the cells and damage them as seen in patients suffering from chronic kidney disease.

I often encounter patients who seek other options to manage their illnesses especially when they are “sick and tired” of the management they have adopted for a very prolonged period of time. But when I advise them to change their lifestyles, they often get disappointed. They do not want to let go of the cause of their illnesses especially in regard to their favorite foods and beverages. My mode of disease management is based on natural law. I go more for using natural ingredients than synthetic products. When one gets sick, he is not deficient in that specific medicine prescribed to him. He is either deficient in a nutrient, excess in a toxin, or both. So, to restore one’s lost health, replenish the deficient nutrient, eliminate the accumulated toxins, or do both. A very simple trick one can adopt.

The body is the temple of the soul. Keep it clean, sacred, and serene at all times. The best agent for keeping the body clean is the simple clear, tasteless, and odorless water that the body will be very much delighted when supplied adequately. Listening to the sounds created by water, whether it is the crashing of the waves, the tropical rain, or the peace of the underwater world, can bring peace, and a feeling of safety or security. Try it and feel the difference!
