With the COVID-19 pandemic still causing much havoc, many individuals have developed intense fear toward the SARS Coronavirus 2 virus. The increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and the emergence of new virus variants just indicate that we do not see its end coming very soon. In the first quarter of the year, the number of cases were noted to abate, but today, the daily number of newly infected individuals has reached to tens of thousands. As of 4:00 PM of October 2, 2021, the Department of Health reported 14,786 new cases, so distant from the 2,651 new cases reported in the DOH Bulletin last February 26, 2021. Vaccination against COVID-19 began March 1, 2021. Comparing the figures noted between the two dates, it seems that vaccination did not help reduce the incidence of COVID-19.
There are two concepts of disease causation. First is the Germ Theory of Louis Pasteur and the second is the Cellular Theory of Dr. Pierre Jacques Antoine Bechamp. Both were French personalities but Dr. Bechamp was better educated in the field of medical sciences. Mr. Pasteur was a chemist but he was more political, the mainstream medicine today adopted his theory because it better suited their modes of disease management utilizing pharmaceutical products. Mr. Pasteur stressed that germs invade the body and they are to be feared of. On the other hand, Dr. Bechamp stressed that germs develop within the body from an enzyme depending on the condition or state of the environment or terrain in which it thrived in. Depending on the condition of the terrain, the enzyme Dr. Bechamp termed “microzyma” will be transformed to become a virus, bacterium or a fungus. Restoring the terrain to a healthier condition will revert the pathologic germ to its dormant and inert state, the microzyma.
To illustrate an example, a fish that thrives in a clean water remains active and healthy. As the water becomes dirtier and filthier, the fish becomes sicker. A rational mind will change the water regularly to maintain and sustain the life of the fish better than administering chemicals or vaccination to it to avert the disease. Today’s mainstream medicine fully relies on administering chemicals into the diseased body instead of focusing on correcting the cause of the disease, the imbalanced, unhealthy environment.
There are two major reasons why people get sick. First is the lack of essential nutrients. It is very obvious that depriving the cells of the nutrients they require to function optimally cause the weakening and deterioration of the cells and tissues. There are six essential nutrients. These are carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and water. Of the six, minerals and water are the most ignored and neglected. Water plays critical roles in health and well-being. Its vital functions are: W – works to keep body cells toned; A – assists in weight loss; T – transports nutrients and oxygen throughout the body; E – eliminates acidic metabolic wastes and toxins out of the body; and R – regulates body temperature. If one of these functions doesn’t happen, it results to a dysfunction leading to a disease.
Like water, minerals are also essential to health and well-being. If water is the “liquid of life”, minerals are the “sparks of life”. Its vital functions are the following: M – maintain electrical nerve impulses; I – improve muscle actions; N – neutralize stress; E – extract acidic metabolic wastes and toxins out of the cells; R – regulate water contents of the body; A – activate enzymatic functions; and L – load up to strengthen the immune system. Mineral deficiency leads to organ dysfunction resulting to disease.
Proper hydration and adequate mineral supplementation help maintain the optimal physiologic functions of the body and with it maintains health. Proper hydration delivers sufficient nutrients to every cell of the body and after the delivery of essential nutrients, water carries out the metabolic wastes and toxins as it leaves the cell. The circulation then delivers the wastes to the kidney for their regular, proper disposal. Thus, drinking adequate volume of water only provides a healthier environment.
The human body is approximately 70 percent water. To maintain this percentage, the old principle of daily water intake amounting to eight to ten glasses is very erroneous. A percentage is not a fixed number. A person weighing 80 kilograms has to drink more water than that of a 40-kilogram individual. My formula for the right water intake is 50 ml per kilogram body weight per day. The total volume should be taken as follows:
- 1/4 of the daily total volume upon waking up in the morning and at bedtime.
- 1/8 of the daily total volume 30 minutes before lunch and supper.
- 1/8 of the daily total volume 2½ hours after breakfast and lunch.
- Add 250 ml more for every 30 minutes of any strenuous activity.
- Drink anytime you are thirsty.
